mCherry Fused to Human Vimentin

mCherry Fused to Human Vimentin

The intermediate filament protein vimentin is developmentally regulated. Its expression typically occurs during the early stages of cellular development, but vimentin is usually replaced with a tissue-specific intermediate filament protein in the latter part of the developmental process. Vimentin present in the cell illustrated above was labeled with mCherry, one of the six original members of the "mFruit" series of proteins. mCherry has an intrinsic brightness of approximately half that of EGFP and exhibits peak emission at 610 nanometers.
