Mouse Stomach Tissue
In the digital image depicted in this section is a three-dimensional reconstruction of mouse stomach fundus tissue stained with Alexa Fluor 350 (wheat germ agglutinin; highlighting lectins), Alexa Fluor 568 (phalloidin; labeling actin filaments), and SYTOX Green (nuclei). The fundus is located above and to the left of the esophageal opening. The rounded gastric region, which is histologically similar to the corpus of the stomach, functions in the short-term storage of undigested food and provides an area for gases produced by digestion to accumulate.
