Rat Stomach Tissue

Featured in this section is a reconstruction of rat stomach cardiac tissue that was stained with Alexa Fluor 350 (wheat germ agglutinin; lectins), Alexa Fluor 568 (phalloidin; actin), and SYTOX Green (nuclei). The cardiac sphincter is the opening between the esophagus and the stomach. This portion of the stomach is but a few glands in length in rodents, and several authors refer to this transitional zone as the squamocolumnar or forestomach/zymogenic junction.
