Mouse Vas Deferens Tissue - 40x
Shown above is a reconstruction of mouse vas deferens thick tissue sections that were stained with Alexa Fluor 350 (wheat germ agglutinin; lectins), Alexa Fluor 568 (phalloidin; actin), and SYTOX Green (nuclei). The vas deferens is the primary target of most permanent or semi-permanent forms of male contraception. The traditional vasectomy, for example, requires that each of the reproductive ducts be severed and then sealed. Although this surgical procedure has been in use for many years and is relatively simple and quick to perform, an even more refined method has been developed. A less invasive, no-scalpel method of vasectomy has become the preferred procedure in many parts of the world.
